We need Scouts!!!

All,

Pack 4600 will be selling popcorn at Brookshires this Saturday, Aug. 28 from 10am-12pm.  Please reply to Todd Cook to let him know you will be there.

Also, we need scouts for Saturday, Sep 11.  Please include your availability in your reply.

Remember, popcorn funds our program.  The great things we did last year were made possible by the outstanding effort of our boys in selling popcorn.  It is up to all of us to ensue that your son has the scouting experience he deserves.

2010 Wild West Cub Camp

Good Evening!  I see we have some cubs wanting to attend camp this year.  We are going to have a great time!  But before we do, I need paperwork!  I must have the hard copies of the Camp Information and Health Form for the cub scout.  For the adults volunteering, I must have at least THREE (3) pieces of paper:  the Camp Information and Health Form, the Adult Information Form and a copy of the Youth Protection Training card.  If the adult has a BSA card, I need a copy of that as well.  However, IF THEY DO NOT, the character reference section must be completed.

Please drop these forms off at my house prior to Thursday night at 5544 Woodland Hills, Denton, TX  76208.  I don't want cubs or parents to be turned away because I don't have the paperwork.  Remember:  even if they paid, a cub cannot attend without the paperwork being on file.  Your job as registrars is to collects these packets and get them turned in.  Please help!!!  Thank you SO much for your help!  The boys will appreciate it!

FYI – I show paperwork has not been turned in for the following packs:  69, 136, 352, 372, 755, 771, 931, and 4600.

Also, are there any packs that have not input their registration yet?  Please contact me.  Thanks.

Pinewood Derby and District Pinewood Derby Update

As you know, our pack's Pinewood Derby is this month at the pack meeting on
Thursday, February 25th. All races will start promptly at 6:30PM. Please
try to be there between 6 - 6:15PM to get your car(s) checked in. We have a
lot of cars to get checked in this year, so please try to arrive as close to
6PM as possible. We are using the same person we did last year to do the
Pinewood Derby and he does a fantastic job and for free, however, we need
to try to start on time because this gentleman is not from the area and he
has a long drive to get home. Last year's Pinewood Derby went till 8PM with
25 scouts. With 35 scouts this year, we'll try to keep to the same schedule
so that the event will not go past 8PM. So please be earlier just in case
you need to make adjustments to your car.

Scouts will be competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards within their
rank (Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos, Parents). All scouts will receive a
ribbon, patch, and a special award for participating.

There is also a correction in the date of the district Pinewood Derby. The
district Pinewood Derby will be on Saturday, February 27th. More information about the event can be found by clicking here. The same rules for the district Pinewood Derby
apply to the pack's derby. Some of the key rules to remember are:

. all materials (wood, wheels, nails) from the Pinewood Derby kit or
official BSA materials must be used (parent's car can have a solid axle)

. cars cannot weigh more than 5.00 ounces. (10.00 for parent's car)

. no liquid lubricants

. no modifications to the overall shape of the wheels, which also
means no rounding the edges

If you have any questions about the pack or district Pinewood Derby, please
let me know.

For you NASCAR fans, as Darrell Waltrip says "Boogity, Boogity, Boogity
let's go racing boys!".
